As many of you
know, I have struggled to find a way to clearly
explain the relationship between various Omega
Speedmaster product lines of the past and
present. Frankly I'm not sure there is a clear
way to do so. There are of course many
possibilities: An evolutionary chart (like the
history of the hominds), a family tree, a Venn
Diagram, etc. It occured to me that perhaps a
Timeline might make a decent metaphor for trying
to explain the differing product lines and as a
nexus of where to find more information about
specific product lines and models.... I may in the future
explore the other possibilities (family tree,
Venn, etc.) but this is a first attempt (please
be gentle!)... c.866 /1866 1957 The initial model of
Speedmaster was produced for parts of two years before being
superceeded by the CK2998/105.002 model. Recently Omega has
produced a "re-production" of this model with a modern
twisted lug case, slightly different hands and the modern
c.1861 movement. 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 The 105.003 is also
known as the "Ed White" model because White wore one of
these on his Spacewalk. This model was superseeded by the
105.012 (Pro) late in 1965. 1964 1965 The 105.012 is
identical to the 145.012 but carried this model number for
it's short (4-6 month) production run... 1966 A model Number change
from the 105.012, the 145.012's production ran from early
1966 through the first half of October 1968 when the c.861
