Introduction /
Panel
8
|
One of my most recent
acquisitions came with an original manual,
so I thought I would share it with
everyone. A unique thing about this manual
is that it is written in French, and,
well, I don't speak, read or write French.
But I do know the location of a number of
Internet translation sites and I figure
that if they get the english close I can
spackle in the rest... Here
goes...
|
|
But
First: A note about
layout.
|
Like most eight-panel catalogs, this
Tissot catalog is laid out on a single
sheet of stock folded twice. In order to
preserve the intended order of viewing,
I'm displaying what I call "Panel 8" first
and then the other panels in sequence. The
actual layout of the four-color printed
catalog is diagramed below:

- Super T-12
Electronic
- Réf.
40602:
Large sized diver's watch,
super-tight (Water resistance
guaranteed up to 200 meters deep).
Rotating under crystal bezel
provides perfect protection against
sand and salt water residues. Large
luminous index: good legibility,
even at-depth. Electronic movement
with date.
-
- Instructions:
- The under
crystal bezel is rotated by means of
the crown located at the 2 o'clock
position. Before diving, adjust the
triangular index to point to the
_time_ that you will surface. When
the triangular index and the minute
hand are at the same position, your
diving time is done. Model provided
with a battery which functions for
12 months. After this time, please
have it replaced by your
watchmaker.

- Super T-12 Automatic

guaranteed up to 200 meters deep).
Rotating under crystal bezel provides
perfect protection against sand and
salt water residues. Large luminous
index: good legibility, even at-depth.
Automatic with date. Also available
with day and date.
-
- Instructions:
- The under crystal
bezel is rotated via the crown located
at the 2 o'clock position. Before
diving, adjust the triangular index to
point to the _time_ that you will
surface. When the triangular index and
the minute hand are at the same
position, your diving time is
done.

- Super T-12 Navigator
- Réf. 44596:
Large sized diver's
watch, super-tight (Water resistance
guaranteed up to 200 meters deep). This
watch has 24 hours a time dial, and not
from 12 the needle of the hours follows
a rotary movement corresponding to that
of the ground around the sun (or earth
around it's axis), the standard time is
thus read from 1 to 24
hours.
-
- Instructions:
- Internal rotating
bezel is actuated by means of the crown
located above the date. It's dial's 24
divisions which corresponds to the 24
time zones. The bezel also has 24
divisions (in the lieu of a
conventional watch's 12 divisions) and
as a result the hour hand makes only
one turn of the dial of every 24 hours.
Navigator thus gives the local hour and
that of the other time zones. Example:
you are in Sydney. It is 19 h. 08 and
you want to know the current time in
Geneva. Knowing that there is a 9 hour
backwards shift between Sydney and
Geneva, you adjust the internal bezel
to match the local hour hand indicated.
Counting backwards 9 hours on the under
crystal bezel and you see indicated:
Genéve 10 h. 08.

- Seastar T-12
Chronograph
- Réf. 40504:
Chronograph large
size, provided with sub-registers
indicating elapsed time in seconds,
minutes and hours. Tachometric scale
pure control speeds. Water resistance
guaranteed up to 200 meters
deep.
-
- Instructions:
- To start press on
the pusher opposite 2 o'clock. The
needle second hand start to rotate and
the counters of minutes and hours are
then started and increment as time
elapses. At the end of the operation to
be measured, to press a second time on
the same pusher (at 2 o'clock) then
read the time elapsed, in hours on the
3-6-9-12 sub-dial, minutes on the
10-20-30 sub-dial the red central
second hand. To return the Chronograph
to zero, press on the pusher opposite 4
o'clock. It will be ready for it's next
use. The watch continues to work
intependent of operations carried via
the chronograph and continues to
display the proper current
time.

Statement
of "Fair-Usage"
|
As with most instruction manuals and
catalogs, no copyright is present on the
booklet. Since Tissot did not claim
copyright, I feel I can not as well. Thus
the only stipulations that I place on this
document that it not be used fraudulently.
In other words, don't misrepresent
printout's of this document or scans as an
orginal manual... I think that's fair
enough.
Enjoy!
