But wait... There's more... In a previous post in this thread I stated: Dick Gordon (Apollo 12):Documentation pictured with watch clearly indicates dates which pre-date c.861's buy over a year. Probability this watch has a c.321: 100%. I believe this is beyond debate.
One of the things I mentioned in my previous posting was my suspicion that these two watches were of the same batch due to the proximity of their serial numbers. This is a NASA photograph of Inventory/storage area. I direct your attention to the red underlined numbers in the photograph. The two numbers 61 (Evans), 63 (Gordon) seem to be of the same batch of serial numbers, the photograph ties them together. If the photograph was taken in 1965 as Mr. Imai seems to indicate by placing it in this (1965) section, this again predates c.861 production. So I feel comfortable in pushing the probability of Mr. Evan's Speedmaster being a c.321 past my previous 95% to over 99%, again in my estimation. It has been said in this threat that the cited reference to 20 unused Speedmasters is incomprehensible... I'd like to direct your attention to the blue box... It's hard to make out because of depth of field/focus... But it almost appears to be a 84... You can see it much clearer in the enlargement... It seems likely that this is a bin of another batch of Speedmasters. If you count the number of double-digit S/N's starting from 72 (one more than the in-focus bin) you will end up with a number in the 92-96 range which is consistant with the previously cited number of 93... Again, this is not conclusive but it adds to the growing mountain of NASA photos and documents that seem to point in a certain direction. Respectfully submitted... -- Chuck |
