... I am delighted to have inspired many other Speedmaster fans by some of my earlier posts, but you have long eclipsed my knowledge and contributions regarding the collecting of these wonderful pieces. If it weren't for Carl Perkins and Elvis would we have had the Beatles? If it weren't for Chuck Berry and B.B. King would we have had Jimi Hendrix? If it weren't for Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix would we have had Stevie Ray Vaughn? I am FINALLY finding a little time to occasionally have the fun and rewards these watches give me, and I hope to participate more in the future. And we will be all the richer for it... I MAY have just located the elusive CK2915. WAY COOL! If so I will need to post more info here. I had the rare pleasure to examine Bill Sohne's CK2915 when he visited Chicago the weekend before the WTC/5-gon attack... I was suprised at how different it looked from what I expected... It had a flat crystal not unlike that on the 1964 Heuer Carrera as opposed to the domed crystal of the later models. If I could find one for a decent price (about half the going $7k or so) I'd be very tempted to get one... But I really prefer the CK2998 personally... AND I just love the new rattrapante and broad-arrow Speedies and will need to acquire those as well (the broad arrow just BEGS for a display back - don't you think?!) It sure seems like it does with that beautiful movement... |
