Ok folks this is proof that having a high positive feedback percentage doesn't mean the person isn't beyond reproach. Ironically this person's feedback percentage is identical to mine.

YOU ARE BIDDING ON A VERY NICE AND BEAUTIFUL USED OMEGA SEAMASTER PROFESSIONAL CHRONOGRAPH 100 METER MANS WATCH,

Ok, how many 100m W/R Seamaster chronographs does Omega make these days? Hmmm? -zero-...

I HAVE THIS WATCH FROM MY GRANDMA COLLECTION

You name collections after relatives? Or your Grandmom collect's men's chronographs?

THAT PASSED AWAY SHORT TIME AGO.

The collection or the Grandma? I mean I've heard about being wary at estate sale claims, but this is ridiculous!

SHE USED TO COLLECT WATCHES WITH A BRAND NAME LIKE;

[List omitted] Hate to break it to you bub, but She didn't collect brand name watches if this one is any indication.

THE WATCH HAS SOME SMALL SCRATCHES AND ITS BEEN USED CONDITION BUT WORK'S & FUNCTION PERFECTLY.INCLUDING THE GLASS AS WELL.I WILL SUPERSIZE THE PICS SCAN SO YOU CAN TAKE A GOOD LOOKING ON IT.I WILL START AT $100 WITH NO RESERVE??? SO YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO MISS THIS GREAT LOVELY WATCH IN A GREAT DEAL!!!!

Well, I don't think it's such a great deal, but maybe to a connoisseur of fakes it might be.

Here is a picture of my example for reference:

and the watch in question... (This will cycle between a color annotated outline and a plain version every 15 seconds or so:

Let's start with the Red... The watch states 100m/330ft... It should be 300m/1000ft. This alone is to get me to pass. But the rest of the text is different too. It is "© Omega Seamaster Chronograph Water Resistant" it should be "© Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer".

Next the Lavender... Note this is a 1/10th of a second subdial! The Seamaster is a MECHANICAL watch, it wouldn't/COULDN'T have a 1/10th of a second dial unless it possessed a Zenith El-Primero movement. You ever hear of an Omega sporting a Zenith movement coming out of Bienne? Me neither. This means that the watch has either a Quartz movement (something a Seamaster Professional Chronograph would never possess) or it's non-functional in some sense. Folks, this is the FIRST thing I look for when looking at a watch... if it has a 1/10th sub-dial, it is NOT a mechanical watch. Note: Zenith to my knowledge has never produced a version of the El-Primero movement with a 1/10th of a second sub-dial.

Next, the baby Blue... The markers... We have reasonably correct rectangular markers at 12, 9 and 6, and round ones at 10, 2 and 6, where are the round markers for 1, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 11? And where is the rectangular marker for 3 o'clock? And where are the tiny 5 minute/second markers on the second track around the edge o the dial? They are missing all together! What a joke!

Next that minute hand in Green. Proper shape, but it's missing the luminious along the outside edges of the skeleton part and also missing the luminous triangle in the end. Oh! wait a second!!! I see it! I've circled it in Orange! Either it's bouncing around the inside of the watch between the dial and crystal, or it's glued itself to the second/minute track at 6.5 seconds/minutes! Gads!

Last up on the dial is the Dark Blue: Subdials... They aren't in the same position as the real thing. Suspicious? You bet! We have one subdial that shouldn't be on the watch, another two that are in the wrong place. How is one supposed to track minutes? We have a small seconds (@ 12) and an hour (@ 9) where is the minute register? How useful is a chronograph with a minute register? Not very bloody useful...

Ok, which brings me to the last item in this picture... In the Brown... The braclet seems to be made of solid, one piece links, instead of the elaborate 9 piece links common with the SeMPC.

Now, the bezel markings are wrong, the hole for the (missing) luminious dot at the top of the bezel is far too large, the dial is wrong for this bezel, the crown is wrong (both in shape of the crystal, and the shape of the Omega Symbol on the crown. The clasp isn't a push-button clasp, it's a snap clasp, the clasp has raised instead of embossed writing on it, oh, the Seamaster waves are not consistant with a genuine back (and the dial is missing the Seamaster waves too)! Oh! and there is NO H.E.V.!!!

These are just the most obvious things wrong with this fake Seamaster. Grade yourselves... How did you do? Did you spot as many questionable things as I did? Of course, if you only spotted one or two and those were enough to make you move on, that's enough. But the more you find the more likely you'll be able to spot a fake!

I hope you found the post/tread/this interesting/fun/educational.

Good Hunting and know your quarry!
