eMate Basics Workshop

 

Course  Overview:

The eMate™ Basic Workshop is an interactive, leader-led workshop that introduces participants to the eMate 300 from Apple. They will be led through a series of hands-on activities, discussions, and demonstrations that introduce them to the eMate capabilities, including communicating to other eMates, a desktop computer, and a networked environment.

Duration:

1 Day - 6 hours

 

Class Size:

The workshop is designed for up to 16 participants.
There should be at least one eMate for every two participants.

Location:

On site.

Focus:

The workshop is designed for people using the eMate to facilitate or enhance personal productivity and in the classroom.

Goal:

To provide the participants with the knowledge and expertise necessary to incorporate the use of the eMate into their daily professional practice.

 

Objectives:

After completing the workshop, participants will:
  • Understand and be able to effectively use the basic features and capabilities of the eMate 300 mobile computer
  • Understand and be able to use advanced features and capabilities of the eMate 300 that extend its use as a personal productivity tool

 

Description:

Working both individually and in small groups, participants will learn about the basic features and capabilities of the eMate 300 mobile computer. Participants will also learn about the functionality of the eMate as either an entry-level, full-function, stand-alone machine, or as a complement to an existing suite of technology.

 

Content:

This workshop consists of modules that combine discussion, group work, and hands-on activities with the eMate. These modules comprise the following:
  • Presentation and hands-on practice of eMate's basic features
  • Set up procedures (including teacher set-up)
  • Using Newton Works
  • Using additional features
    • Printing
    • Extras drawer
    • Connecting to desktop computer
    • Connecting to a network (where appropriate)
    • Newton Press - create and view Newton Books
